Most of the other reply go the same way, so I really appreciate all of you taking the time to write detailed messages, I have many resources/services I can check to take my first steps into self hosting now.

I’ll be sure to check these resources, thank you very much
That is good advice, and I do trust reliable services over my poor skills. I understand self hosting emails is out of reach, but I think I’ll still give self hosting a try for smaller things.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a long reply, I appreciate the advice very much!
Thank you for the advice, I always prepare backups before my fuckups and i assume there will be some fuckups whike i learn haha
Thank yiu fir your reply, others second your advice, and I will take it and start small.

Thank you for your reply, you are seconded by many others, if I get started on this self hosting journey, I’ll start with simple stuff I don’t care too much about, and test it out before leveling up on skills/security, and we’ll see if I eventually end up self hosting emails, but I don’t see it coming in a near future.
What is npm? How do I know I’m not using it?

Never going back unless I’m forced to do so.

Same here, here’s q tip beside addblocks, if you’re still watching yt content, use PipePipe for android based phone, and Smartube TV for android TV. There will be no adds, and the apps skip sponsored segment automatically.
Been running GOS for a couple years now, it’s flawless, I’ve installed it on my wife’s phone as well, she has no issues with it either, so really no need to be a hardcore nerd to run it, just follow the instructions and reach out to the appropriate community/forum if need be.
Side note, I used to run Lineage, GOS is a breeze to install and run compared to Lineage (which was great, don’t get me wrong, shout out to the devs!).

Check out the firewall settings, it could be the issue. Also don’t forget to turn off VPN on both devices if you’re using one.
Been using cinnamon for a couple years and I’m happy with it, although I don’t spend much time on my computer. Been recommending it as well since I don’t know any better. What’s the most user friendly distro you would recommend ?

I think about it but I have no idea where to start and how this works. Also I assumed that with my crappy skills self hosting may be a big vulnerability!?
That’s what I’d do, easy & safe, you just have to enable the “high resolution” option before sending if they want to see a detailed picture
