Yeah jellyfin just isn’t as good. After having issues on LG webos where captions won’t load for like 5 minutes and dealing with that for like 2 years I gave up and went back to plex.
I do like how jellyfin can stream av1

Fwiw bazzite itself is new but it’s just built on top of Fedora and is really stable. I have only had one issue with kernel panic on boot but rolling back was as easy as picking my version before the last update. Was fixed in less than a day
I don’t understand how it’s irrelevant? The drivers work great and it’s a solid distro that doesn’t have the issues of package updates breaking your pc without a way back easily.
To me it fixed every issue that I had with Ubuntu /shrug
They can downvote if they want, it’s just internet points. I still recommend bazzite
For my web ui apps I just use traefik forward auth with Google. Works great for my use case
Some games like Elden ring were even more performant for me on Linux than windows because of shader caching with proton
Bazzite is your answer in most cases imo. It’s the most functional distro Ive ever used
I think the hard disks thing, looks like gparted kindve, can add fstab entries automatically for you.
I could be wrong
It’s not good for beginners. I’ll give him that. This whole thread is about getting a laptop your mom can figure out.
If you end up being full time tech support then it’s not worth it.
That being said, I gave one of the most computer illiterate people Linux mint and she was able to browse the internet just fine.
Chrome Os is probably the best happy medium at the moment though for people who don’t want windows but want a windows like experience
Fwiw frame Gen sucks and adds latency.
Those other games might be worth a dual boot, or maybe looking glass or something
Docker is the best alternative but also not good for beginners.
Yeah, definitely not perfect… I hope nvk fixes some of this eventually
Nvk will work on the older cards right?
I’ve been on bazzite for awhile with a 3090 and it runs pretty great.
Maybe give that a shot if possible
Oh I 1000% agree. But you try to convince my opsec colleagues
I’m not sure what you’re saying? Those certs log to somewhere and in my experience HR is nowhere near technically literate enough to monitor and track that stuff.
Usually a manager asks a sysadmin to watch someone’s stuff, then the sysadmin and manager tell HR what they find.
We had a contractor spending 90% of his day on reddit who got fired. Hr wouldn’t have been able to pull this info since they don’t have access to the system that tracks it
My work has a 100% mandatory vpn and mitm proxy for ssl scanning. I just use parsec to view my laptop from my desktop and browse what I want on my actual personal computer
Some movies just refused to play for me. Subtitles for certain releases just straight up wouldn’t load on my lg TV, and then instead of nice picture subtitles I got shitty looking ones.
Idk… I ran it in docker and just assumed it’d all work but it doesn’t.
Also, I really like that plex stores you’re watched state on their server. I lost a jellyfin db once and had to remember what shows I was watching. There’s not a good sync to cloud or something feature for that… Yet another container and solution I have to stand up aside from my media
