There’s a dish from Réunion island plainly called “vanilla chicken”. It’s onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, chicken, a few herbs and spices and a fuckton of vanilla simmered in a pot for hours. Like almost all creole dishes, it’s served with white rice, lentils, fresh rougail and the most insane chili paste casually put on a table as if it was a salt shaker.

It’s fucking amazing.

Yes, I installed Fedora and everything was working OOTB. Nothing to tinker with, no issue with sound, WiFi, Bluetooth or external screens. Then I moved this SSD to a new AMD laptop and it worked perfectly. It even switched from Intel to AMD utils by itself.

So disappointing.

I’ve put my dad on Bluefin (same project as Bazzite). It’s perfect. Major upgrades are the same as weekly updates. Transparent and uneventful. It’s been almost 2 years and zero major complaints. He even finally accepted to ditch his ancient MacBook Air since I installed the Affinity suite on his Linux laptop. It was his last holdover.

Yeah nah I’m not replacing a device that will stop being supported in a few years by another device that will stop being supported in a few years. Besides, fuck nvidia.

Well, technically the open source kernel behind all Apple’s OSs is still (mostly) open source. It’s useless as is, but it exists. So yay for BSD licences, I guess?

They always were Linux-friendly. Some hardware choices like the fingerprint reader were directly related to Linux compatibility. Firmware and UEFI updates have always been available on Linux. They sponsor a lot of FOSS projects (some of them unfortunately linked to nazi dipshits, stirring a lot of controversy, but 99% of them are clean).

They may not have explicitely advertised Linux before, but they dropped a lot of hints.

Man I was really hoping for a haptic touchpad compatible with the current input cover… At least they kept the Pro input cover compatible with the regular chassis, although it’s a very pricey upgrade.

My 7040u is rock solid on Fedora. I’ve seen some pretty bad shit with the Ryzen AI series, but people tend to only post about issues.

Tuxedo (and most of “European” and/or “Linux” brands like Slimbook, XMG/Schenker etc.) are rebranded Tongfang or Clevo laptops though. They are neither designed nor made in Europe.

I just need an AirPlay Audio server so I can stream music from my phone to my stereo. Volumio fits the bill but is probably overkill. I’m open to any suggestions for an up to date FOSS alternative.
