I’m sure there is, but Google’s core business is advertising. It would almost be counterintuitive for them to sell that data when they make more money utilizing it in their own systems.

I understand all that, but point is that they don’t necessarily sell you profile or data points to a third party, they use all of that for their own targeted advertising

Iirc Google doesn’t sell data in the traditional sense, they package profiles for advertisers and their own ad network, but they don’t outright sell individual data. I could be wrong though.

I mean I hate to say it, but at this point what are our options? Because our elected representatives refuse to do their jobs and these corps keep doing shady shit without consequences. I don’t mean to victim blame or anything, but with the current state of affairs, the onus is on the user to protect themselves.

If you connect you TV directly to the internet, that’s on you at this point.

I don’t really think Netflix’s goal was CNN, it just happens to be owned by WB. Netflix is after WB/HBO’s library and production apparatus. I think Paramount’s, especially Ellison and Kushner, goal here is primarily control of CNN. Even though CNN is dogshit, it’s still one of the most watched news stations in the country, and control of that outlet would likely be very beneficial for Trump’s propaganda machine.

It almost seems like the big one they’re after is CNN.

I live in a tourist town, and my side of the street is the incorporated city, while across the street is unincorporated county. As such, they have a different trash day, which is Thursdays, while mine is Friday. That said, my closest full time neighbors live 4 houses up the road around a bend in county, so I don’t have day heads up usually.

Though I did remember today. So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.
