its really easy to setup with yunohost if you’re lazy, idr if it was too bad to host lemmy, think having friendica and others was my issue that cause my 160gb to fill up in a few months, didn’t want to deal with it anymore lol
If you do not wish to interact with me, Lemmy has a wonderful block button, you don’t have to tell me how you want me to act, that is odd behavior and you wouldn’t do that when interacting with people in real life if you live in a civil society, it is odd to try to control how others interact with people instead of just blocking them when it is so convenient to do.

Its extra fucked because the sheer amount of money ppl at the top have now, like the gap is getting bigger and bigger, why is everyone still broke, how do they benefit from ppl not buying things, like my walmart is full of expired sht all the time now, way less traffix

Just so ppl aren’t dissapointed Daws like ableton and fl studio don’t have support (Reaper and Bitwig do tho, some others too)
Visual programs like touch designer and resolume don’t work (seen workarounds but they have issues)
Davinci resolve may crash, it worked fine on arch but on bazzite it freezes my pc when loading projects
On the gaming side obv there are the games that won’t function without anticheat like wrc, iracing, f1, etc. No game pass ofc.
I still wouldn’t swap back to windows and I barely use it, maybe once a month if I really want to use something not on Linux.
Main downside is lack of piracy. Houdinifx should work fine on linux natively, but lacks a crack. So even if the paid software does work, if you pirate to use this stuff as a hobby than you’ll have to swap to something like Blender/Inkscape that is free and works on linux. Only crack I’ve found was for Davinci Resolve.
Linux has plenty of free and capable alternatives for paid software, I like that it has me using Foss more. Went from learning Houdini + Davinci to just sticking with Blender for my hobby visuals, not mad about it, prefer that I was forced to focus on one.
Same for all of that, hadnt touched vim since I had to my freshman year of college c++
The pros just outweigh the cons, overall faster, 90% of the time im just using a web browser so compatibility isn’t really an issue, that works fine. I love being able to actually customize my computer, desktop environment, etc. and feel like I have complete ownership over my device. Swap my file manager or whatever, I think anyone who has jailbroken their phone in the past would really get the appeal of linux instantly. It almost feels like using cydia when using gnome with extensions or flathub, but better.
I dualbooted and then just didnt touch windows again til a year later, I stopped using a few hobbyist programs that I had put a lot of time in but pirated and stuck to just blender really since piracy was and still is difficult for some of those programs (houdini) or the program itself causes issues and doesn’t work well on linux (davinci resolve on bazzite, worked fine on cachyos tho, all amd)
I only reinstalled windows on another drive recently to play simracing games, but ended up mostly playing the ones that work on linux rather than iracing and wrc which I booted up windows for.
Plenty of things still don’t work well or require a lot of workarounds, like producers using ableton probably shouldn’t switch to linux, or vfx artists using touch designer, if s@box devs exist the dev side doesn’t work on linux
Im assuming you haven’t checked, there are multiple extension options, just look up gnome tiling, I like it
Default gnome is rough, but arcmenu for customizable start menu, and a couple other extensions that ive never had issues with being outdated make it the best de for me, kde I end up adding too much clutter or never feel satisfied customizing compared to gnomes default look
Gnome with extensions is basically a better cosmic for me
Until you want to tinker with stuff that doesn’t have an appimage or flatpak, also on amd I’m convinced blender runs slower than it did on cachyos, davinci resolve doesn’t work no matter what work around I try it freezes my computer when loading a project. Cycles can’t recognize my gpu on bazzite either (blenders renderer), if it does (through tar not flatpak) it doesn’t work.
I had no issues on cachyos, I just swapped to see if my displayport would work here, should’ve realized it’s a hardware issue earlier, did when I dualbooted windows and then googled my laptop and found out the usb c to display always had issues and likely never worked. (alienware m17 r5 all amd) Every person asking under warranty got it replaced with an nvidia variant.
It can through paru but it’s reccomended to use the cachyos repo through pacman
Idk man, seems like you installed at least the system files on the wrong drive, but that would be obvious and idk how you would even do that with linux installing fedora, pretty sure there is no option to have home/data on a seperate drive

Make a new gmail or something everyone can access and then have them login through tailscale, its automati after doing it once, then they copy your devices ip, go http:ip:port eveytime and if your app is exposed over local networks it should work. Just safer than actually exposing over the web. Downside is shared gmail account ofc.

Unnecessarily late because they want users at least triple dipping with macbooks, ipads, and iphones, google too because they were pushing chromebooks for so long

Hes saying theyd have so much sway that all other distros would have to follow whatever standards they come up with
Just one of many extensions, and I use the tweak/tuning apps, gnome is a hassle or fun to set up depending on what kind of person you are. KDE you just hop in and customize so it is easier to setup.
I prefer gnome with dash to panel, just think it by default is more suited for touch screens, use it on my handheld with touch.

How I feel about gnome

It causes issues, like bazzite has the same profile name, IDK if I missed the option to change it. Cant use the virtual mouse swap across computers because they require different names and it has an error related to that.
