Not OP, but my wife and I were incredibly disappointed by Interstellar after seeing how much praise it got.

    SPOILERS BELOW!!!

First off, the pacing was waaay too fast. I felt like I was getting whiplash from how they spent like five minutes in each location. I hear people complaining about the long runtime (like the other comment that was just posted, lol), but I have exactly the opposite problem - I think this movie really needed like four hours to do everything they tried to do right.

The biggest failing for us, though, was how ridiculously terrible and inaccurate the science was, from start to finish. From little things like needing a full multi-stage booster system to break earth’s gravity, but being able to effortlessly jet off the ocean planet with no help, to absolutely bonkers ridiculous stuff like just casually going beyond an event horizon without getting spaghettified in the process.

So yeah, valiant attempt, a couple of really cool story ideas, and some good (but overrated) cinematography, but, while I wouldn’t go so far as to say I hated Interstellar, I would absolutely say that I didn’t like it, and that it was actively painful to watch.

  • Yes, what do you think all of the comments and downvotes you always get on your misandrist comments are trying to say? There’s a stark difference in participation on your comments, in that the ones lifting women up are pretty universally upvoted and your comments tearing men down are usually controversial. We’ve been telling you for months, but you refuse to listen.

  • Playing semantic games with the word “misandry” isn’t going to work here, as the comments and votes have shown.

Also, whether you think you’re being misandrist or not isn’t really up to you anyway, and it’s not my job to do any more than I already have to educate you. You either listen to what we’re telling you, or you don’t.

When I’ve already wasted my time giving you evidence in dms once, it kinda disincentivizes me from wasting my time on it a second time, knowing that you won’t listen.

So, I think I’ll just let you take what message you will from the comments and votes in this thread, and if you want to add it to your imaginary misogynistic persecution complex instead of recognizing it as the reaction of a community that is aware and tired of your subtle, dog-whistling misandry, then so be it.

But whenever I happen to see a comment like this of yours as I’m scrolling the frontpage, you can be sure that I’ll continue to call it out, just as I hope you continue to call out the actual misogyny that exists on Lemmy.

It’s equally telling that you think I’m the one on a crusade given the literal hundreds of similar comments I see from velma on /c/all all of the time.

Anyways, as for tags, I don’t know if it’s implemented into the Lemmy website directly, but most third party clients allow it in their settings, and I think there are also browser extensions you can install for it.

Edit: I don’t like to go through people’s comment histories, but since velma has specifically asked me to do so below, I’ll update with a few examples when I can get back to my desktop PC later.

In the meantime, I think anyone else should also feel free to jump in with their own favorite examples.

That’s moving the goalposts. The entire point of my initial comment in this thread is that you’ve unfairly demonized OP specifically. Would you like me to find examples of you demonizing individuals in the past for similar imagined transgressions, all of which just happen to point in a single direction?

(Keeping in mind, of course, that you’re demonizing them for a single post title when you’re so ardently objecting to being misconstrued for “a single comment” here.)

As for the title, why did it have to be gendered in the first place?

Maybe because OP has a lived experience that they’re posting here as a response to.

To echo my initial response to velma in this thread: “I bet you wouldn’t have complained about how gendered it was if it had said ‘big boy words’ instead of ‘big girl words’”.

And to echo what we’re always told when we complain about misandry in the titles of posts: “If you want to complain about misogyny in a thread about the lived experiences of men, why don’t you make your own post about it, and don’t try to hijack others’.”

You’ve got an entire walled community for exactly that in womensstuff, after all.

That’s true, and I agree with many/most of them, but my point is that we have more than enough data to interpret the likely meaning of your comments from the ones you’ve posted so far.

And this is without needing to go through your comment history - I started recognizing your name quickly just from your comments like this one on posts on the frontpage.

Seeing consistency across the 2,000 comments you’ve posted in the past few months isn’t “a single comment that hadn’t been dissected yet”.

But I get it - you didn’t get the inital upvotes you were expecting for attacking OP as a misogynist, and don’t want to argue on the back foot for a comment that’s already unpopular, so you’re falling back on “I was totally just asking questions guys!”
