Really? Here’s one for you. I have a UPS on my computer and another one on my network equipment. I can run for about 45 minutes with no power and still be online. I’ve actually worked through 15 minute power outages before without skipping a beat.

How far down the chain does that count for you? If there was a VP, Manager, or Individual Contributor that took their (personal) wages and donated to a cause you didn’t like, would you still pull your money?

Maybe I’m missing something here but how is that not a logical conclusion for any service where you have a unique identifier? If it can get your IP it can get a general idea (CGNAT/VPN can screw with it a bit), if it’s allowed network access it can get nearby APs, which are pretty well mapped at this point, and if you allow it GPS, well that’s a no brainer.

The other thing I was thinking is that a swinging object (vine, what have you) will, even for the briefest, infinitesimal moment, form a perfect 90 degree angle to the tree branch.

Even if it’s DRM free, it completely kills the resale market. Good luck finding something for any game going forward at a discount or being able to make back any of your money off of it when you’re done playing.

And yes, we know the natural conclusion from both sides as a result of this: more people will pirate, and prices will stay high, and only one of those two groups will have the leverage of the government and police.

Serious question to that. How many degrees of separation does that account for? If I spent money at a random company, that does not endorse a far right candidate, but then it pays an employee and that employee then turns around and supports a far right candidate, is it still “my money”?

Does it matter if they’re a front line worker or if they’re a manager or a C-level if it’s not done by the company directly? Do you have to vet out the buying habits of every employee at every company you spend money on?

I think of Chic-Fil-A, which is different because money from sales goes straight to the foundation, which is used against LGBTQ+ people, but if someone were to be paid via paycheck and then spent it at Chic-Fil-A, is it my money anymore?
