It’s extremely common on intersex infants. Gotta remember that most people barely know intersex people exist. And the doctors will tell the parents there’s “something wrong”, the parents want to have a “normal kid” and are told the kid won’t know, and here we are.
Its a suprise to me that there were even people doing that.

Or if its anything like circumcision, they just do it without saying because its “the default”.
