What is a bit of a dick move is their consumer division paying lip service and pretending like they matter to the company at all.
I think it’s rather telling that there’s not a single company that’s touching any of these currently insanely overpriced products and going, you know? I think I’m going to prioritize the human customers over the business customers. Sure, we may not make as much money, but we would have truckloads of goodwill and generate thousands of lifelong customers.
And I understand the business reasoning for that, but great businesses are not built by bean counters any more than wars are decided by bullet rations.

Other way round. While NVIDIA works perfectly fine their drivers are proprietary, while AMD has open drivers.
AMD doesn’t gate the high vram to be only their top end model. They have generally higher vram across the board.

I don’t know. I’m still using my 7900XT with 20GB. For my home server I just bought an Intel Arc Pro B70 32GB.
yeah the main reason AMD isn’t quite as price-gouged is that ROCm isn’t quite as in demand as CUDA for non-gaming uses for GPUs.

If you genuinely think they care about making a mere thousand bucks on a lumpy graphics card then you have been sleeping under a rock. Their costumers are Amazon, Microslop and Meta. Not you or me.
They would absolutely care if their audience flocked to AMD.
Graphics cards are still roughly ten percent of their revenue, that is not a lot, i’ll give you that, but they are a stable income. When this AI demand inevitably dries up it would definitely still be in their interest to not have alienated the entire gaming community that made them in the first place and that Nvidia as of right now still dominate.
They won’t be handing that to AMD. If for no other reason to not give them the financial space to chase them down in the AI space as well.

Now, yes. Not 10-15 years ago. Not 20 years ago when GPGPU was still a rather obscure concept. The Nvidia problem isn’t new regardless of how younglings and newly-enlighted seem to think so.
The sales of consumer GPUs make up a veeeery tiny percentage of nvidias revenue. Nvidia could stop selling consumer GPUs tomorrow and it wouldn’t even make a noticeable dent in their revenues. And what other options do u really have? Any other company ain’t much better.
Nowadays, yes. Wasn’t this way 10-15 years ago. I’ve been against their practices enough to not buy their product these last 20 years, which feels like a very lonely hill to die on.
Doesn’t really help that they got an almost monopoly on the market (with the only competitors being as shitty and involved in the AI circlejerk just as much).
