Although I do get the argument that tons is confusing because there are metric tons as well, and with only a 10% difference, it won’t be as obvious as if you confuse pounds and kilos or feet and meters
But milimiles would be redundant, it already gets its name from being roughly equivalent to a thousand of someone, somewhere’s (probably in Europe or the Mediterranean, but beyond that, who knows) paces.

kilopounds (Kips) is a real unit that gets used in structural design in the US. It makes no sense lol.
