Totally. You don’t need to pretend to cry to make a point. I rarely cry but if I do it’s usually a relief to get it out. If the kids are around so be it. I don’t want to pretend to them that those feelings aren’t valid.

In general, yes, kids don’t need to know about all the little troubles of adulthood. But when you have a rare situation that makes you incredibly sad, like hearing of a friend passing away, being overburdened by stress at Work, … It’s better that kids know that crying is okay, others can take care of you and you get better again.
2·1 year agoPretty sure my dad’s secondary desktop I used for my first Linux install had a 1.2 GHz Duron or something and 512 MB. I’m pretty sure I got that funky compiz fusion 3D-cube desktop running on there 😅
This. Some convenience features simply don’t play well with non-standard setups and that’s fine IMHO. Of course wireless android auto cannot work if you manually overruled how your phone should connect to networks

That netbook is not what I would consider a ThinkPad. And distro wise, is crunchbang still a thing? Something simple with openbox or max xfce would probably be a smart choice. This thing won’t be fun for builds or other compute heavy tasks. For browsing the web and chats it’s probably fine
0·2 years agoHonestly have no experience here, but is this at all worth a look if you aren’t paying for YT? I’ve considered reshuffling/reducing the subscriptions I have and Spotify is probably the one I’m most attached to.

- search around for a good one
- find a nice one and start using it
- they add stuff you didn’t want and slowly make it worse
- they’re bought up/ abandoned/ otherwise become unviable

A lot of printers are built to break. Ideally that would be illegal but it isn’t. I haven’t had a printer for years and whenever I look into it I just hate what I can get and continue without one. Having kids I would love to print coloring sheets sometimes so I would love to eventually buy a printer. And then I’d love to use that for decades, so this here does look promising
