Want people with children to work there longer? Provide them with onsite or daycare somewhere. Daycare is a huge expense for a parent to take on just to continue working. If it’s onsite, they can when things calm down a bit visit their children and have a moment together.

More vacation time and some leisure time during the day. More vacation would mean having a workforce robust enough to handle it. What this does as well though is help spread the everyday load without that consideration to prevent or mitigate burnout. As well if I can just take 15 minutes to go get water, use the restroom, talk a little bit without feeling like the boss is breathing down my neck…

A lot of schools don’t because there isn’t a standardized program for teaching it. I know we used a very tough typing game for when we were taught. Not sure if I was slower on the uptake but I worked real hard to get good at touch typing.

There’s certain caveats to be certain, but be available and willing to dispense information. Even if just one person listens to you, that’s someone who might get things better for themselves.

As you get older and interact with younger people, the more you see them make the same mistakes you did. Because they’re encountering the same problems with no experience or knowledge on how to handle them. Be a mentor to the younger folks.

Gaming is the thing, I have kept my ear to the ground and gaming is much better than it was but it’s still a bit to go. I have a streaming laptop I no longer use, I may put Ubuntu or something on there. Test it out. I have some familiarity with Linux but my understanding the user experience has gotten a lot better since 10+ years ago.

I’ll be honest, I hate Windows 11 but the plethora of Linux distros as well as opinions on them gives me serious decision paralysis.
