  • I am a petrolhead, I love cars, but even if I won the lottery (and I mean a BIG win) I could never justify spending more than $250,000 on a single car. I believe thats the price point where you are buying a flex not a car. $250k buys you (or gets you built) an absolutely top shelf truck, sports car, 4x4 or family vehicle, any number of incredibly cool vintage cars or one absolutely mental amateur race car.

Even then, theres maybe 5 cars Id consider dropping that kind of cash for, EVEN THEN I dont think I could justify having more than 1 of the 5.

  • Thats why Gran Turismo haters can fuck off.

I owned a ps4 already and Id owned Gran Turismo as a casual gamer before I decided to give sim racing a go. I bought a $200 used wheel and pedals off marketplace and built a cheap rig for about another $200.

It might be “Simcade” or whatever elitist gatekeepy shit people want to say but my total investment to suck at simracing is $500. You can spend $10,000 and still suck at Iracing.

  • I am a huge car guy. Removing an engine MAKES SENSE to me, I understand on a fundamental level how to get the best out of an engine and drivetrain but if I have to do literally any custom wiring I farm it out to a spark wizard who can tame the magic pixies that run up and down the rainbow spaghetti. FUCK WIRING.

While I dont understand windows “fundamentally” Ive also been screwing with it since 1995, it makes sense. Linux just doesnt to me.

  • Also YT might be a soulless big tech giant with highly questionable ethics but they are literally a modern technological marvel with a how-to video on pretty much anything, niche and hobby content that “tv” and streaming would never touch and literally endless pure entertainment…

They are not now nor have they ever been a public service. Frankly its a minor miracle that in this day and age that they have a purely advertising supported option for access.

I can almost write a dissertation on this shit but the advice I give anyone who is stressing about the scales is a bit counter-intuitive.

Weigh yourself 4 or 5 times a day and write it down but dont give a fuck about the number for at least a month. If your diet and exercise are on point you just need to trust the process.

Some people fluctuate wildly based on body water, women especially around their menstral cycle. If you wait a whole week between weigh-ins and you had a salty carb heavy meal the night before your weigh in you can have lost 2lbs but be holding 3lbs of water thats going to disappear by the end of the day.

Essentially you need to get a feel for how much your weight swings on average throughout a day so when you have been doing everything right but the scales dont refect that you have a set of data you can examine to make sure you are overall trending the way you hope.

    Wrong terminology, It’s denser.

If you take 2 people who are otherwise identical one with 10% bodyfat and one with 30% with the difference made up by muscle the 30% bodyfat guy will look way heavier even if they read the same on the scales.

  • A lot of his stuff isnt very funny, but its also not highly objectionable. At the end of the day if people see someone constantly posting stuff they dont like block user is right there. Its so much more effective than downvoting every post they make. It doesnt have to be with malicious intent like “Fuck this guy” Ive got tons of communities blocked simply because the content is not relevant to me. Its just clutter.

    Honestly I’m all for it.

Not everything needs to be about the evils of capitalism. I posted in an ADHD community about how I think I’m fed up with managing my symptoms and I’m going to talk to a doctor and someone suggested that Capitalism is to blame for my symptoms.

Im surprised they didnt try to tell me I’d also have less trouble focusing if I switched to Linux.
