Car accidents. All collision types become more likely as speed increases, and injuries increase with that - not chance of injury, total injuries. Bench seats were abandoned for bucket seats because bench seats are objectively more deadly when analyzing car crashes.

You need to limit the speed a vehicle can go if you’re going to make unsafe designs acceptable again, otherwise you’re just gambling with lives for fun cabin interiors.

  • It’s more a philosophy for Unix systems. When we say that “everything is a file”, we’re saying that even devices should show up on the filesystem (/dev), even network ports should show up on the filesystem, even processes should show up on the filesystem(/proc), etc… and that is as opposed to having a different system abstraction handle those functions instead.

Of course when you look deeper into it, linux does not explicitly follow that rule, it more just adheres to it. It’s more a guideline than an explicit statement of fact

  • Not sure why we’re throwing the Casio F-91W under the bus for this joke - the thing runs for years on one battery and only shifts off true time at like 1 second per year. They’re more accurate than alot of Casio’s more luxurious models even.

My microwave deserves the slander, though. Mechanical watches too, though they’re still nice to use. Speaking of which, I need to buy a sundial so I can keep my watch accurate after the US and its power grid collapses. Time keeping’s such a hassle sometmes.
