I’m forced to use Ubuntu (an old version too, 22.04) because the app I use for about 70% of my computer time doesn’t support anything else. I’ve tried newer versions of ubuntu and other distros and have gotten it to a mostly working state after a lot of work, but the issues are too much and I also loose all customer support since I’m not using the officially supported distro and version. I’ll never go back to Windows but I feel jailed in more than I did before, and there’s just no other option.

This post would have been relevant 3 years ago. We’re also mostly past “babe wake up, * posted a new video”. It’s mainly “crazy refresh pull” now, a mix of “this is AI” when it’s clearly not and bot comments who get thousands of likes and hundreds of replies.

A tip for a good snack for dogs is tofu (just normal tofu without any spices or fried etc.). It’s good for their heart and kidneys and it contains isoflavones which lowers cholesterol.
They also like it from my own experience and what I’ve read from others online.

It’s really fucking not hard to learn the correct usage. You’re: you are, your: something belonging to or being part of you. You’re isn’t a word, it’s a contraction of two words. It’s so fucking simple to understand when to use any contraction or similar sounding word that there is never an excuse to get it wrong. It’s also mostly native English speakers who get it wrong and part of that is the American educational system being one kf the worst in the world.

It’s funny seeing all this landlord hate as someone who lives in a country where it’s rare with shitty landlords. We don’t really have “landlords” like you do, it’s mostly a few big real estate companies who own the vast majority of apartments and are actually good as they compete. I’ve lived in this apartment for 10 years and my rent has increased by 8% but now water and electricity is included, and they have completely renovated the house with lots of nice new things and tech, never denied requests for repairs and have very good communication with us. They’re added solar cells to the roof, a big information screen in the entry with real time arrivals for trams and busses at nearby stops, chilled delivery boxes so when we order grocery bags we don’t need to be home when they’re delivered, we have 5 laundry rooms; one on each of the 4 floors and a bigger one on the ground floor, all with 2 big washing machines, dryers, drying cabinets and drying rooms and they’ve added filter that filter out microplastics etc., they’ve added a big bike storage room with tools, pumps and lockers with chargers for e-bikes, mailboxes that send a text when we get mail, a common room with a kitchen, sofas, tv that anyone can book (for free) and the “landlord” hosts a fika there every week with pastries where we can give feedback and make requests, and sometimes other events there too, and there are three elevators (to small, one big) and a trash room with recycling in the building. My apartment is one bedroom with full size kitchen, 31m², and ~$540 a month. I’ve gotten new appliances, renovated bathroom and other things since I moved in. And they used some of the material from the renovation to make artworks on two of the building faces, a big hanging lamp in the middle of the spiral staircase and furniture for the lobby and yard. There’s also so many nice plants both along the outer walls and in the yard, some with edible fruits and/or flowers.

I really think Ubuntu is the most common first distro people try. A common reoccurrence here is the inability to see what an average person, in terms of tech literacy, knows and are willing to put time and effort into. Ubuntu has been the face of Linux for a long time (obviously not based on people who know and use linux). I wish Mint took that place as it’s so much better.

I used to do graphic design about 15 years ago but don’t anymore, I’m not gonna tell someone who does it now that I know anything about how it currently is. Very weird to not be aware of something like that without having to be told about it.

This is pretty cool IMO. A study made from this where a large group of people had a pen like this and then you compare the patterns.
They’ll definitely be different based on so many things like what kind of work you do, hobbies, obesity, “phone neck”, how much of a social life you have, what kind of devices you use most.
Now I realise that there are too many variables, still would be cool to see differences in patterns from different individuals.

No, only if you’re an idiot. A lot of people realise that isn’t true well before they’re old enough to work.
And it’s especially common to not realise this until well into adulthood in the US because of the level of capitalistic brain washing that happens there.
I’ve specifically discussed this with friends, both from my country (Sweden) and other countries (including outside europe) and this fucked mindset just isn’t there for any of us.

I thought they allowed app installs outside of the app store now? I haven’t had an iOS device for about 10 years but the few things I hear it feels like iOS is moving more towards openness while Android is quickly moving towards a closed environment and what iOS used to be in that meaning. I also think Google has been real bad with tracking and shit than Apple has ever been. Obviously both Google (or Alphabet or whatever) and Apple are absolutely not good in any way about any of this, just saying to make it clear I’m not siding with either.
