its all good, I didn’t pick it up from your post :)
hello :3
I’m a 30-something IT enby living in the middle ass nowhere
its all good, I didn’t pick it up from your post :)
Lived there for a couple years, not a local so take this as you will.
Economy wise its your average C-tier: inflation is very high, saving is difficult. Rent is not cheap, but definitely not Canada level. I was renting a good (albeit tiny) studio on the outskirts of Istanbul for 600$ back in 2023-2024, yearly contract. Probably around 850 now. Food and utilities are affordable.
Legalisation can be tricky: for example, you need to consult a list of areas where you’re permitted to live as a foreigner if you wanna do it legally. Migration offices are a buerocratic hell, but that highly depends on your citizenship and skin color.
Dunno how’s your türkçe, but its a must unless you wanna be stuck with expats. Ppl rarely know other languages outside of tourist traps.
Progressivity-wise, it’s complicated :) Local gay scene is pretty vibrant, but genderqueers have it rough: I had black nailpolish while looking vaguely femboy-ish, had some unpleasant interactions. If you pass though you’ll probably be fine.
Other than that though people are very friendly. Many will try to fleece you as a foreigner (like any tourist country), once you show that you’re broke it’s all chill.
Whereever you end up going I’m rooting for you fam ♥️

are these exclusive or is both an option
Wdym its the best script. No dependencies, zero maintenance cost, extremely small attack surface.

“It is too late, for I have already straw-manned your argument in a meme”
Does this imply freebsd will make you want to kys

Love the format, such shade

Been thinking about upgrading networking at my homelab, I’m this close to surrendering to the siren of Tailscale. Like I’m under no illusion about venture-capital “open-source” but their tools look so good…

Its over chat, she doesn’t support copyleft 💔

incoherent zerg screeching
I’m the kind of user that spends a whole weekend to fix a driver issue for an obscure 2000s sound card, then proceeds to erase the entire process from memory to repeat it from scratch on a new system next year.

what the hell I want that
but like, you can version control your entire os config how cool is that. I do agree its… time-consuming, which is why I haven’t jumped in yet
I keep thinking about giving NixOS a go, but do I really want another job of maintaining my own system? could like read more books instead, or get better at piano, may be spend time with living breathing humans.
someone walk me from the ledge
thing is, windows is shit at being windows
I can give 80$ if you deliver
