  • You get it:

MSM has to maintain the illusion for the majority of their subjects,

so they have to balance between pushing-as-hard-as-they-can to manage their population’s “knowing”…

but they have simultaneously to keep owning their subjects, & that obliges them to hold-back enough to retain credibility…

Not an enjoyable tightrope to walk.

I prefer the more-cutthroat culture of journalism/science, where disagreement is normal.

That isn’t going to be preferred by humankind in-general in my lifetime…

    So, instead of survival-of-the-fittest ( the disagreement-is-normal cultures ), we’ve got survival-of-the-momentarily-dominant-consensus, with no roots-to-objectivity … & then … viability is only … political-moment, or social-moment: it isn’t robust, or strongly-rooted.

    < shrug >

You do realize that your non-standard alphabet/character-set fucks-over people who’re trying to participate in such discussions through screen-readers, because they can’t see, right?

That may be an unintentional-effect, but it is an effect of such difference.

  • The presumption may be right, but it’s also entirely-possible that people have finally figured-out that unless you open-up, & communicate what-we’re-doing, and our-process ( ANY organization ), THEN conspiracism takes-root & fills-the-gap.

& there’s also the problem of idiotic-framing: “it doesn’t affect me” … when said about the fascists coming for others … until there was nobody left to protest when they came for me…

    we’ve all seen that line…

the same is true of imperialist-psychopaths.

“they aren’t coming for me, therefore I don’t care” is the same head-in-sand ignoring/denial, just in greater scope.

It is aggressors who decide how much defensive-capability is required, not making-believing.

The fact that we won’t provide all girls in school with aikijutsu or jujutsu or something, makes force-reducing the rape-rate not happen.

As someone pointed out a couple weeks ago: the ONLY charges for the Epstein Files … are charges for illegally sharing secrets, NOT for child-rape…

So, enforcement is pretend, for that category-of-crime.

Then “arming” girls becomes the only way that rape’s going to be mitigated, right?

The same is true at country-scale.

We falsely told Ukraine we’d protect them, if they just give-up their nukes…

    so they did…

& then Russia invaded, & we … mostly sat on our hands, until Zelenskiy’s “I don’t need a ride: I need ammunition!” speech.

We could have solidly-backed them while Russia was building-up for their invasion…

but head-in-sand prevailed, & some of us remember what Russia did to Mariupol, from what we saw in the images… shortly thereafter.

So long as aggressors are a real threat, then fighting-capability is required.

Not having that capability means … sooner or later … becoming their carrion.

As Canada is going to be finding-out when Trump’s soon-to-be-dictatorship annexes Canada & Greenland, & sets about enforcing his “Greater North America” ( modeled on Netanyahu’s “Greater Israel” … including much/all of Lebanon, same with Syria, etc… ) “Manifest Destiny” imperialism…

Trump NEEDS Greenland to force-butcher Canada more efficiently.

    WE need to be armed-to-the-teeth.

The time of rule-of-law’s nearly done: the time of rule-of-bullets is going to begin, soon.

    The world’s times change.

& ruthless objectivity increases one’s likelihood of surviving the coming mess.

    • Pimsleur language learning ( learn at instinct-level, not the prompted-stuff or memorizations that many other language trainings work at )
    • Tandem app ( probably not great for privacy, been awhile since I tried it ), you help someone learn your language, & they help you learn the target language one you want
    • simplified short-stories, books of collections of the things…
    • TV in the target-language
    • songs because they wire-up your other-hemisphere ( right-hemisphere for the 85% of people who have language in the left ) with the language, & that reinforces the language’s patterning
    • flashcards for the stuff that actually requires you to remember specific arbitrary things, like difficult words, or whatever, for random moments throughout the day

Some of this I got from a book by a guy who knew … 29 or something? … languages & worked for the CIA.

Other stuff ( songs ) from science news, & my discovering that language-destroyed-by-stroke people could sometimes still communicate through picking a song which had the idea they were trying to communicate…

I have a bad time learning anything through hearing, though, so … language-learning seems itself to be kinda broken ( I learned English before anything, & it was my 2nd wave of braindamage which took much learning from my life, not the autism 1st-wave ).

These are the best tools I know-of.

I wish I could learn languages.

I wish everybody learned other-languages, to understand just how diverse humankind’s meanings can be…

For gaming, Ubuntu’s got the strongest support.

    Why do I know that?

Because I tried running Steam on … perhaps openSUSE or Void, & was told by Steam that they only support Ubuntu.

Since then I’ve read that they support others, but it was only a few years ago where they told me they only backed that one.

Linux Torvalds has spoken on how you simply can’t make an app that will work on all distros: it isn’t possible.

Gentoo would except for that kind of compatibility probably be your highest-performance OS, since you can intentionally include ALL of the CPU-optimizations which test to work best for you.

  • Then they are IDIOTS at understanding crypto.

Bitcoin is the ecologically-costliest/electricity-costliest/machine-costliest cryptocoin to standardize on: it’s nearly used-up.

They’d have been much saner to have standardized on some other crypto.

I’d prefer that Algorand-type ones were standard, but they can be attacked by country-level attackers.

For anybody who wants outside-the-hype-bubble view of what crypto is, & how its ecology works, PLEASE read https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/attack-of-the-50-foot-blockchain-bitcoin-blockchain-ethereum-smart-contracts

The reason that Steampowered stopped taking crypto, is plain, in that book.

    _ /\ _

( PS: I’d enforce that there be an Algorand-type crypto for recording accounting-records with, country-wide, so that books couldn’t be “cooked” between closout-of-the-books & reporting. & I’d want to make daily closeout normal, if possible. Cisco did that, years ago, so it is possible, but some will scream against such economic-integrity measures, of course… )

  • The idiotic assumption that social-pressure is what “protects” against ideological-highjacking of one’s country.

Hiring private-investigators to get the evidence-of-crime, of those most-corrupt ( & the ideological-supremacists assume that law doesn’t apply to them, same as class-supremacists do ), & then hiring the criminal-circuit lawyers to prosecute them ( because the establishment WON’T prosecute its-own, herds/gangs always protect their-own-category against their "inferiors ), is the ONLY method which could have protected against the far-right’s world-is-theirs-to-rule time that is coming.

    Trump’s, Netanyahu’s, & Millei’s countries voting AGAINST a UN anti-slavery resolution shows what’s coming.

    Wait & see!
