Another recommendation for GL.iNet - been running one for a year and a half or so.

Whole house VPN via Mullvad was extremely easy to configure, for instance. As well as setting up an isolated “guest” network for fussy and sus devices (AKA no VPN for that).

Eh? DisplayPort is great, non-proprietary HDMI that we should all be using instead. I use 4x DisplayPort connections at work daily.

I’m 1.5 years into Bazzite now, and to be clear I end up using degrees of not-my-devices for a lot of my time on coprutor these days (so, not pushing this distro that hard over that time, in other words).

But it’s been great, also run it on a small number of super cheap second hand laptops for various things and have had really good experiences.

There’s a few caveats but overall Bazzite is accessible and robust.

You seem open to share some details, by which I mean, I feel less potentially rude to ask - care to share how long you’ve been working with em (the Frameworks)? And any details therein, how it’s been, any frustrations?

Longevity matters a lot to me, at least in the medium term (and it’s not lost that me buying their ish would help them do that in a tiny way lol), so I’m gun-shy. My current approach is simply to buy old business class Dell things for my household, there’s ~no chance I’ll find myself unable to buy parts cheaply. I do also treasure giving old machines further life, very sustainable, feels good.

Whatcha think? Time for me to upgrade my approach (slowly 😅), or best to wait it out a bit and see what develops?

Overlap of folks wanting a Framework laptop at orgs forced to use (only) Windows, at orgs willing to then buy Framework laptops seems real small. And I mean, buying it with Windows installed does suggest what you’re saying.
