I’d recommend KDE over GNOME, especially if you’re coming over from Windows. My take on Linus’s move is he’s tinkered with Linux 5+ days a week for ages, so GNOME makes more sense. But as a nerd who doesn’t work in tech, I love KDE as I can tinker until I’m content and changes are just made in settings. Either way, I’d say finding the Desktop Enviornment you like is more important than the distro!

I prefer Fedora over Bazzite as it gives you more control, but this also means it’s easier to break. Bazzite is an immutable distro, whereas Fedora uses the traditional mutable root filesystem. But despite the difference, Bazzite uses Fedora Atomic as it’s base OS.

Just as a fun little factoid, Linus Torvalds runs Fedora and while he was using KDE for a while, he switched to GNOME as he felt it required much less fiddling around with than KDE.

Someone made a bunch of noise about the archive.is/ph/li maintainer being anonymous and how they preferred this for their personal privacy. Knowing this, the individual still felt the need to make noise when there was already was some, which resulted in repercussions. The maintainer even stated they’re glad Wikipedia wants to strip archive.is/ph/li of their pages as hopefully it’ll lead to Wikipedia archiving their pages themselves.

Due to the functionality needed for archiving, archival sites can be used to substantially increase the success of DDoS attacks. But what’s to say they weren’t hit with malware and taken over for a while? This is basically one person’s word vs another and in the big picture that drama doesn’t change how I see the sites function. No one’s perfect and I don’t expect that of anyone, but the site has worked flawlessly for me. I’d say making a 2nd user for the apps that need Play Services (like banking and Uber/Lyft) is the move. This only allows Play Services to run when the 2nd user is on and also fully seperates it from the main user!

That’s par for the course my friend. But the response to these cliché statements is what can start to change perspectives! I like highlighting how Big Tech knows them better than they know themselves. Then get into how this means big tech has the ability to change how they view a topic based the specific search results. I then zoom out and explain how this happens for every user similar to them, as well as for every other “group” big tech classifies people under.

I often get something like “But what can we even do about it then?” in response, which more often than not, eventually leads to them admitting they’re lazy and things are too convient to switch away from or stop using lol

Why not start the OS swap process by assigning a new number to the Graphene phone or no number just wifi for now? This ensures your main phone will still work for work, while also allowing you to start hammering out any hangups with Graphene?! It truly seems like it’s just going to get more and more difficult to switch as time passes, so starting the process now could make a LOT of sense!
