The “Second Screen” complaint is that they produce shows with shallow depth. So simple that you still get it while focussing on your main screen (e.g. Instagram, Tiktok on your phone).

Without trying something similar yet, here are some ideas:

• motion sensor on top of your shower
• trying to detect the vibration of the water flow
• a simple switch that you hit before you get into the shower

Also think of other times you “use” the shower, like cleaning it. Some methods will also be triggered then.

There is an app called button mapper that lets you rebin the keys easily on the chromecast remote (google tv)

A cheap solution suggestion, not sure if it fits your requirements:

• a dumb heater with manual switches
• a remote controlled power plug for the heater (e.g. zigbee)
• a remot thermal sensor (e.g. zigbee)
• a simple HA automation that checks temperature and turns the plug on for X mins
• a fire alarm to prevent that from burning down your building

I have been using pihole for a while, but switched to the adguard ha plugin. Works like a charm, also with local DNS for my services.
