One user in the instance I use went on that journey, setting up FreeBSD for his own email. I think there’s a very detailed comment from one of the big, weekly random threads in our instance, but I can’t remember when that happened (also, it’s in spanish, so you’d need to translate it if you manage to find it).

You’re completely right, I guess it’s kind of weird to fork it just to replace an image. If it’s MIT you can just replace the image and not bother about publishing such simple change, right?

AFAIK it hasn’t been done because the mascot is placed there as some sort of branding by the creator of Anubis. In its website it’s explained that you can change or remove the mascot for a fee if you plan to use it for corporate purposes.

I get their usability too. It’s understandable if you have to access a server remotely and you want some sort of interface for some software without loading the server with a lot of packages like gtk, qt or stuff like that. I said it mostly to jokingly dunk on the newer arch/omarchy users with their fancy hyperland setups :P

Nah, it actually affected my main laptop with a modern amd cpu 😅.
I’m actually more into seeing what happens with my computer so it’s not an issue for me, but for fedora users like my gf it might be lame to have it boot up to a black screen (she has a laptop with similar specs).

The fix is to use a grubby command to disable rhgb at boot. You can find the fix in the fedora discussion website.

I don’t know if it’s been officially fixed yet, but I’m holding the update for a laptop until it’s fixed.

There’s the Pixelfed app, Pixelix and PixelDroid. Of the three I’d say the most functional is PixelDroid, but the interface isn’t as good as the others. Pixelix feels faster than Pixelfed but in my phone it has an issue with JSON saying I’m unauthenticated.

The Pixelfed app works, but it’s a bit slow, and doesn’t have as much functionality as PixelDroid. PixelDroid lets you easily see all feeds (feeds for people you follow, local and global feeds), which Pixelfed somehow doesn’t let you access, which kinda destroys the point of using a federated social network.

There’s pixelfed for an Instagram alternative, which is based on the activitypub protocol. If flashes is built on bluesky I don’t think it will make much of a difference if the protocol is controlled by a company.

A thing that has helped me a lot is to go buy food when I’m not hungry. It reduces my chance of overeating and buying lots of food, also making me spend less money.

When I used to cook a lot for myself in uni it helped a lot to plan meals.

Plasma 6 started very prone to crashes in my laptop when it released. I like how it works a lot more than Gnome, but Plasma tends to be buggier for me too.

This last month I’ve been having rendering issues in a lot of software, like Firefox and Okular in Fedora 41 (and now 42). I don’t know where they came from as it was pretty much perfect last month.

Sometimes I think I’d prefer to return to xfce in laptop (like I tend to use in desktops) or use labwc.

I think similarly. And 4chan wasn’t the only website affected, it happened to reddit and to pretty much all social networks. It was very drastic, like somebody flipped a switch on the internet that year. You could tell astroturfing was way more intense than usual.

I’m not sure if I got used to it, but it feels a little bit more mellow nowadays, with flare-ups in key political moments, but 2016 was a 365 day effort.

SUSE/openSUSE are the only ones that have it figured out. It requires a lot of polish, but it’s the only distro that seems to really care about a deeper system configuration through GUI, and that’s really appreciated.
