I don’t really want to defend them in this thread, but generally they compete on quality, not price. They refused to get involved in the race to the bottom that Ender basically won.

That said, I don’t think that’s true anymore, either. Some companies have emerged that are higher quality than Ender, but not that much more expensive. They’re probably close to Prusa quality now.

It’s not like a situation where one greedy person is dropped in the middle of a society of altruists, and the whole thing goes belly up. It is possible to educate a society on what greed looks like, what its effects are, and how to deal with people who try to become utility monsters.
