Can you share photos of the underside of the remote and/or light where it lists either “FCC ID” or “Contains FCC ID”? I can’t find a listing on it anywhere to figure out what it does, and a LOT of those labels for radio frequency in Amazon images are straight up lies. There’s so much noise on those drop-shipped items.

All 3 mechanisms are native to a yubikey, and do not require yubikey-specific software/drivers to function as they use USB standards like FIDO2, keyboard for HMAC, and PIV/CCID for OpenPGP.

FIDO2 is built-in out-of-the-box, HMAC just requires adding the key to HMAC on slot 1 or 2 (tap vs long-hold key-inputs) using the personalization tool, or using gpg(2) to card-edit for OpenPGP.

None of these require YK software to operate.

Yep. In the fix I linked I set it up to default to a word if it fails the template instead, so it’ll then check for a match to that word (“fail”) and if so it just falls back to 5 minutes and will tell me as much.

Going to be a hell of a lot better about that in the future though. Was definitely a rookie mistake on my part to assume that just because it’d worked every time I’d tested it, used it, and with timers and all thus far that it would always work 100% of the time. Why assume when you can validate? I do in code I write… Guess I don’t think about it in the same way with HA as much, oops.

I do all three every time I do something new, it’s basically mandatory for me. Every time I did it correctly did numerics tested over and over via voice itself. Timers always behave and require that as well.

This was just the first time, after anxiety had faded, it had failed to transcribe in a useful fashion.

Makes me want to look into more-predictable STT systems.

Reporting like that really is something I should be doing more of. I think about it lots at work and when I go home I guess I often turn off that part.

Speech to text, not AI. No one called it AI until the tech execs started purposefully conflating them all to make folks who say they’re “anti-AI” look bad against all other machine learning. And now even fucking Nuance calls DragonSpeak “AI” even though it’s always been machine learning-based since it first started.

It’s one of those stupid things that would just need a toggle to force transcription context. Probably works flawlessly with Nabu Casa’s STT, but even though I pay them for it I want it local. Hell, I’m pretty sure Dragon even has (or had) switches for forcing certain processing methods.

I set it up as just a sentence automation, not as a separate script being fired where that’d have caused an error. I’ve not found a means of forcing validation like that in sentence automations, only in custom sentences/intents (never quite gotten a handle on those)

Honestly this is basically a non-gaming Bazzite using Arch as the base instead of Fedora Atomic, which is technically mutable. I’ve been trying it out and maybe I should give distrobox a whirl for some things. Overall I’ve been happy with it.

If you just want to use other repos, maybe a scheduled script is better than writing a full extension. Since most extensions are only on GitHub still you’d run into the rate limits without the API key pretty quickly unless you only poll once a day and only have a couple from it.

But sounds like basically HACS Lite would be the kind of thing you’d want otherwise. Rather than scratch I’d say just fork HACS since there’s already a framework there and alter it to remove that centralized repo checking and maybe add a config option for poll frequencies. You end up with something polished that’ll likely fit other folks needs and if you just call it “Lite” you might get interest from them even in it being an alternative version.

Including the limitations of options, albeit worse than Apple. I really don’t understand the hubris of that team.

I don’t think that the point here was trying to do anything to say that the user did anything wrong. I think it’s simply pointing out how frustrating it is that Microsoft’s Insistence on various things, as part of their EEE policy, created this situation to begin with, and that it wouldn’t have even broken if not for that.

I’m pretty sure that the person you replied to was really just lamenting that that this is what broke it. And that fundamentally, Microsoft is getting exactly what they wanted as a result. And it’s just frustrating.

I’ve cried at my psychologist place multiple times but each time was not because of her. It was welling up of deep, un-addressed feelings, or a sense of relief of some kind, or sometimes pure catharsis.

Sessions were often exhausting but because of being emotionally engaging and being about things that were deeply emotional to me. I apologized several times for becoming overwhelmed, feeling weird as a chubby grown man breaking down, but she always reassured in a way that made me feel safe, un-judged.

Her goal was always to help me work through last traumas and keep improving living on my own. And she helped tremendously.

There’s definitely some crap therapists out there, and some who are great at some things but terrible with others. Then there’s some who have studied thoroughly and keep up-to-date to help people, because even if it’s taxing for them, their passion is in helping people.

Don’t dismiss horror stories or the fear; dismissal isn’t helpful. Guiding instead with positives, with some good to help ease the fears, is far more helpful.

Great job on something like this! I’ll probably give it a whirl soon, I like Nextcloud but find it clunky sometimes because it’s often a bit more than I need. Maybe breaking it up into Immich + this would help! Thank you for sharing your project!

One thing to note, your comparison against Nextcloud has a partially-incorrect point regarding file upload max size. I suspect a few others may be as well, but I’m only familiar with the Nextcloud one because that’s what I’ve been running, and discovered in making sure I could still upload video files recorded while out and about.

Struggling to read all the comments on mobile so apologies if this is a duplicate, but if you need recipes, Tandoor Recipes. I use it for hosting my own edits of recipes. Since I do baking streams it’s great for me to easily link to my stream for folks who want the same recipe including any tips I’ve added or variations, or something I’ve kinda come up with that’s based off a standard formula.

Plus, using the Kitshn app on a tablet makes for an absolutely gorgeous kitchen companion for reading recipes. Split screening it between the recipe and the chat has been awesome. For real, Kitshn is absurdly polished for an open source app.

I have mine configured with my SSO (Authentik) for login. It’s nice being able to single pane login, and for services where it makes sense, utilize the LDAP outpost feature to login with the same username and password at least (Jellyfin, calibre-web).
