Season 3, episode 12 (“One Day, One Room”) is probably the closest to that.

It isn’t all House in the clinic, all the time, but I think he only works clinic cases in that episode.

I feel like one of the things he said was that he blacklisted people who “regularly post things normal people don’t want to see” (or something along those lines). I assumed that was a blanket statement to cover Violet and anyone else whose posts have made him feel uncomfortable.

That makes me sad for those people. Life is too short to spend it in the company of miserable assholes.

I wasn’t born into a family I enjoy spending time with. It took me a while to find “my people,” but I’m so glad I did.

It sounds like you dodged a serious bullet there. I don’t know many people who started their marriages with huge debt who are out of debt or living happily at this point. Most of them are divorced. The smart ones kept enough paperwork to prove their spouses came into the marriage with debt, so they should not be held jointly responsible for it.

My company didn’t use it, but one of our clients did, and stipulated that we had to use it in order to work with them. Fun times.

Where I live in Colombia, we can get eggs in dozens, but it’s more common to find packs of 15 or 30 in the supermarket.

This is exactly my experience with companies that say they’re a “family.” They typically want you to work all hours and come in on your day off to “pitch in.”

The ones that have mutual respect for employees and healthy boundaries don’t usually describe themselves that way.

That was such a trend at a previous job that I started responding to my supervisor’s requests in writing with, “I am currently working on X with a deadline of Y. You have asked me to pivot to Z today. Whatever time I divert to (new request) Z will directly affect delivery on X. Please confirm the order of priority for X and Z.”

If the supervisor’s confirmation was verbal, I would reply with, “Per our conversation, I am <whatever I was told to do>.”

At least then I had receipts in the meeting about why X was behind schedule.

People in general tend to veer toward conservatism as they age, have kids, and accumulate wealth. Many of those Boomers who were hippies in the '60s became yuppies in the 80s and voted for Trump in recent years.

Gen X is smaller than Boomers and Millennials. We have always known we were going to be passed over in governmental power dynamics.

GenX checking in. I know so many Boomers who got factory jobs with pensions out of high school and stayed with them for 35 or 40 years. They were able to raise families on a single income (or maybe have a spouse who worked part-time). They had nice homes, new-ish cars, and could afford to take their families on vacations. They built equity and were able to upgrade to McMansions in the late '90s and early '00s.

Meanwhile, my friends and I have advanced degrees and we have to look for new jobs every 5 years just to try to beat inflation.

Our parents climbed the ladder our grandparents built, and then they pulled it up after them. At this point, none of us can afford to quit working to care for them as they age, so anything we would have inherited will likely be paid to nursing homes.

Hooray for late-stage capitalism, I guess?
