Hellwig was a bit crusty about being overruled by Torvalds, it seems.
There is always some sort of fucking child throwing a tantrum about some shit. Has it always been the case?
Petty much. The big difference this time is that there’s a common enemy (Rust) instead of relatively isolated petty crap.
I guess that’s one way to stop minorities from voting. Keep/encourage strict voter identification laws, then take away identification from the undesirables…

Which the crowd cheered for, keep in mind.

Jokes aside, that might work. I’ll try it next time.
Good luck explaining that to the “I got nothing to hide” crowd…
What’s next, schools? Oh, wait. Well, surely not public infra—nevermind. At least kids are safe? No? All right then.
More or less, minus the CGI.
We really don’t need more than #3 for a reason to stay far away from Telegram. Security through obscurity is not security, and neither is rolling your own crypto.
There’s also the issue of Nutomic being a core Lemmy dev. While something can be said about detaching the art from the artist, having alleged* bigots be involved in the long-term planning of a project raises question of whether they’ll let those opinions influence the direction of the project. For example, if somebody created a pull request to add pronouns to user profiles and it was rejected, would it be for a valid technical reason or bigotry with plausible deniability.

Not the other commenter, but they likely meant stability with respect to device drivers. The kernel is great at not degrading with a high uptime, but there’s consumer stuff that’s just perpetually unimplemented, buggy, or minimally-functional:
None of this is the kernel maintainers fault, of course. The underlying issue is the usual one of shitty corporations refusing to publish documentation and/or strategically abusing the legal system to stifle reverse engineering for interoperability.
