The Captain Planet super villains are actually pretty accurate. Looten Plunder still looks like the average Fortune 500 CEO (minus the 80s fashion sense), and Hoggish Greedly is basically just the President.

Yeah, but that doesn’t mean it was used regularly as slang, or that it carried the same connotations. “Lowkey,” has been around for ages, but it wasn’t slang until the late 90s, and it isn’t even used the same way. (“Keep it lowkey,” vs., “that was lowkey brilliant.”)

Oh, I haven’t heard it used that was. I still see it used pretty much exclusively to mean, “right-wing dumb-ass,” but sometimes more broadly as, “online dumb-ass.”

Yeah, the casual way, “f*g,” was used, even into the early 2000s, is pretty shocking in hindsight.

Look, Gen Z has some stinkers (“that’s fire,” sucks, and that’s coming from the generation that gave you, “hella,”), but their use of Chud is spectacular. A perfect encapsulation of every grubby, right-wing freak from incels to groypers. A near perfect onomatopoeia.

I agree that he wouldn’t have been right for either part, but I’m sure they still would have been very successful franchises. Also, he probably wouldn’t have gotten either part (definitely not Gandalf), they were just approaching him about it. Producers on Batman (1989) were in talks with Bill Murray and Pierce Brosnan before they moved on to Michael Keaton, but it’s pretty unlikely either one would have made it.

With adult eyes, it’s pretty bad. Also, it’s an adaptation of a much better Alan Moore graphic novel.

I heard this story, not sure if it’s true, but I choose to believe it and will not hear any corrections; apparently, he was approached about Gandalf, but he turned it down because he didn’t really understand it. Then he was approached about Dumbledore, but turned it down because he didn’t really understand it. After seeing how those two franchises turned out, he said, “screw it, I’m taking the next role that I don’t get.” That role was Alan Quartermaine in League of Extraordinary Gentleman. After that movie bombed he retired from acting altogether.

The difference is the Modlog, which means everyone can see the receipts. (For the record, while it might not have been the most tasteful comment, I think that removing it and labeling you an SA apologist is bullshit.)

The cat’s body language (ears forward, tail completely up) says it is unafraid and interested. In the last panel, it is, “bunting,” using the scent glands in it’s head to mix it’s scent with it’s owner, essentially marking it as it’s family. So, yeah, that cat is having a very emotional reunion.

It’s the same attitude. People who disregard traffic laws to drive faster think everyone is causing the problem, without thinking about how their driving affects everyone else. The guy who gets up and grabs his bag first doesn’t think about the 5 other people in the row who have to wait to get their bag, or that there are 50 rows of people that are all trying to do the same thing.
