Thanks for the hint. Long ago I also used syncthing. At that time it not fit my needs. But in this case it may is a possibility.
Any best practises for excluding files in Home for syncing like .cache ?
As far syncthing does not come with a vfs.

How long ago was your test? I hope there is some development on these concepts. I like the idea of homed.

All family member I support and provide with services use a Laptop. They are connected over wireguard. Solutions that depends on Network connections will not work.

Will test it as soon as possible. Does someon know how compartible it is with a qemu VM ? I need some GPU abilities like Vulkan there.

Someting like that on a Keyboard as Key woukd be nice. So I could dynamically switch the Key description of the current keyboard settings.

either you selfhost with docker. Or you have some php webspace where you have to run an setup-nextcloud.php
In both ways it simply works. For a small instance with no special need the webinstaller is enougth. (I use it that way)

A friend told me he filled his google drive with a lot of small and random data in a cryptomator container. But he was not able to fill the google calendar and contacts with random data.
His Idea was, that after deleting there is a possibility that google only backup the last snapshot of his data and throw away the older backups. But only empty the account would not work.
Seems a legit idea, but what an effort 😮. There seem no tool that would do that for you.

👏👏👏

Never heard about that. I will look into that. Thanks!

Not compromised. But my key is around 20 years old. I’m a family admin and support my family since then with Linux and some selfhostung services.
Meanwhile I need an identity provider or something else and in any case ssh feels like a more of a pain to manage.

[Edit] Webdav:
My mom was not interested in the surface cause she only need Mail, Browser, Whatsapp web and here Background image. So she used Ubuntu with the side bar as good as with Mint. Same goes for gmy Granny. I propose, Ask what possibilities are important for here - Do not ask about Application - and show here afther that where to do things.
For showing the new PC. Do it with some work she has to do. Learning curve is way better thatway.
I admire your energetic here. I only installed the latest ubuntu (cause of latest gpu driver updates) then I installed steam from software center and it works nothing to do anymore.

What do you think about pangolin for self-hosted accessing home over VPN?
I already use a Wireguard to connect to my home. As I said. I already work that way. But now I wish to permanently change to this workflow. Meanwhile I do not anymore use my notebook desktop but only RDP. I have a bit problems with the notebook energy saving mode and also have some security vs. comfort issues.
Cause of that I would like to try something new.
Actually I currently use Remmina. It’s a cool application. And the best RDP client around.
rclone with the integrated file encryption and one of the supported Provider.

never did that, but ventoy claim it could do that.
I think people should not be forced to answer. Cause answers should be well answered. I think questionairs should see how many skiped the answer until 12 answer could got, to get an idea how difficult their question was. may add a timout for around 7s for the skip button so people are confronted and could not avoid it to fast.
At man ment I do it with + adresses instead of alias. It works also.
Meanwhile I do not lile it anymore, that the caldav calendars are fully separated. Its not possible to have the flexibility I need for family management.
