You can have all the orgaization methods you want but, imho, notes over an extended period of time are almost worthless without search
I think the point was that AI can’t develop software either but it’s still taking developer jobs.

Most GOS users would not consider these replacements

This is going to be a very difficult hill to die on as time goes on…

Do what i did, start refactoring your debian setup to NixOS 😁
+1 for Swappa. I get all my devices there, filter by unlocked
“… brainstorming is already underway to figure out how to harness AI…”
Ah yes, the ol’ solution looking for a problem routine
Except the whole thing hinges on the panel “i can build a better pc for less money” and nobody knows if this is true yet
Backups are the most overlooked part of getting into self hosting. You’re basically a sysadmin now, you have to act like one. Get remote storage (cloud, friend / family house, hdd in a safety deposit box, etc…) and get your 3-2-1 on
Love this, i’m using the GladOS voice
I wish i could upvote this more, PREACH!

Easy, reliable backups are key. I’ve used komodo with automatic updates for over a year and watchtower before that for a couple more. I’ve only had one issue when Nginx Proxy Manager had a release that deleted all of its own data. Didn’t take long to realize that the services were still up and what the problem was. Restored the missing data from Proxmox backups, pinned the Nginx version for a while, then turned auto update on again. I’ll stick to this until checking updates is less work than fixing the occasional problem
For the record, i literally said “if the math works out” 😁

I kinda compare it to semi truck weigh stations. I found out some time ago that if the math works out that a truck got from one weigh station to another too fast the driver can get a speeding ticket since its assumed they broke the law getting there. Apply that to money. If a person accumulates too much money, it should just be assumed that person broke laws getting it and they should be severly fined (like, most of it).

What year is it? Hasn’t this been general geek knowledge for over a decade?

My entire setup uses less than 100W at idle. That includes:
Seems to be working fine for me but i don’t do anything complex, just folders by year and month
Or, here’s a wild idea, use your brain
