Macs are popular in music because Apple pushed hard to get creatives on board for decades and it worked. I have a Mac because doing music stuff on Linux had me fixing tools more than playing music and I’m sure as shit not gonna run win11.

Also when you own electronic musical instruments. Tons of librarian software for synths doesn’t run on Apple silicon. My 2005 flagship synth can’t talk to my Mac mini.

You need to be extremely careful and ideally have a knowledgeable person help you until you really figure it out because there are mushrooms that will at best ruin your liver that look very similar to the ones you want in most of the places where the good ones grow. All Europe and the west coast Psilocybe cyanescens grows gregariously in big patches, sometimes intermixed with Galerina marginata, which will fuck you up in a death kind of way, not a fly to space kind of way. They look very similar, but are readily identifiable in the field. If you’re in the US south and anywhere near cows, you’re in luck - Psilocybe cubensis readily grows in cow patties and it’s damn near impossible to get a wrong ID given the circumstances.

I recently bought a Mac Mini because music production on Linux had me fighting my tools more than using them. My Linux box is a 7800x3d/7800xtx. The Mini idles at 4w, while the 78000xtx alone idles closer to 50w. I use the mini for everything non-gaming now.

Don’t buy an information vacuum if you don’t want your data sucked up. Definitely don’t buy multiple generations of information vacuum from the same company.
