i was with genderGP and am moving to imago now, because it’s cheaper.

i also don’t like how genderGP seems to have gone all in on gen-ai. they’ve even created a gen-ai chatbot called “genni”, which i feel is something that should never be mixed with healthcare, considering the many many mental health problems gen-ai chatbots have been known to create and amplify. i know there’re so many trans people trying to access healthcare & not enough willing healthcare providers, but this isn’t the way to bridge the gap 😭

i’ve found one that’s called “italian design pumba” and its “intelligent obstacle evasion” is just bumper sensors. there don’t appear to be any cameras, infrared, lidar, phone apps, etc., which is exactly what i’m looking for!

you might have some luck looking for older brands/models along those lines from second-hand shops and refurbished resellers. they’re way cheaper too, as a nice bonus

Unfortunately, no. While the opt-out of sale request should last indefinitely, California’s privacy law still allows companies to collect information without asking for permission first in most cases. That means data brokers are likely to continue to collect information for profiles of you—but they will will have less data and be limited in how they use it after an opt-out request. New data brokers may also register with the state after you file your request. And DROP won’t stop companies who aren’t registered data brokers, like Google, from collecting and sharing your personal information.

here’s hoping that it’s a “foot in the door” sort of starting point that will be expanded to this data not being collected en masse in the first place 🤞

i have a separate phone and email just for applying for jobs, and that’s p much the only way i know how to deal with the spam, since it’s at least diverted away from my real contact details.

it’s such a relief to find out when healthcare professionals work under an informed consent model, and you don’t need to fight them just to access healthcare ✌️

i can use the searchbar on jellyfin & if it’s not already there, i can request it using jellyseer within that same search bar, so it’s possible to integrate the two somehow.

i’m afraid i’m not sure of the specifics though, i’m only using a friend’s jellyfin 🫣

for myself, if i can recover passwords etc, i delete the account to lower the possibility of that data being used to train ai, and to lower the numbers of registered accounts they have.

i think stakeholders are more likely to see accounts being deleted as worse than an inactive account, because people can always come back to an inactive account.

so many websites are eager to keep users by making it difficult to delete accounts, or by adding a 14 day wait before they’ll delete an account, etc., so that alone makes me think they want even inactive accounts for usage statistics or to steal data from.

i’d be fine if the researchers had asked the nonbinary people in their study whether they consider themselves trans or not, then the researchers would have learned new things about transness & what it means to individual people! 💚 but disappointingly, the researchers seem to have excluded them from transness by default, without asking. 🥀😮‍💨

i agree that people can call themselves whatever they want, they know themselves best!

yeah, it’s v weird & ill-informed of them to not count nonbinary people as trans. even the way they shove these two sentences into one paragraph, as though being nonbinary is somehow detransitioning:

i’m pretty sure nonbinary people were trans before 2013, but those researchers also had plenty of time to, y’know, do research on it in the meantime 😬

rather than being angry at a stranger who’s written something in a v standard way, maybe point that anger at the education system you went through, which seemingly didn’t teach its students how to read anything other than printed fonts.

i’m sorry you’ve been neglected like that, but it’s never too late to learn.
