Software worked out of the box much more reliably. I miss certain software but there’s nothing I haven’t found a happy replacement for. There’s a little nostalgia in there somewhere but honestly the feeling is mostly good riddance

Audacity UI has looked basically the same since the first time I used the app in 2006

The happy medium would be Fedora KDE

I got three 2012 MacBook Pros I run different operating systems on. They handle Linux great, even the little 13" one with the i5 and no GPU/dedicated VRAM
In the fall of 2006 my friend in high school (shout-out to treyx.net) donated to the Ubuntu people and they sent him a stack of Ubuntu live CDs, must have been 5.10 or 6.06. I remember being so excited when I got it up and running on my computer
Back in the day I used to game hard as fuck on the 650m on my 2012 MBP lol
I have Fedora on mine now and it works great once you figure out how to make the wifi and graphics drivers play
Definitely upgrade to 16 gb RAM if you haven’t already. DDR3 is stupid cheap
