That screenshot is specifically from the Atari 2600. You can tell because sprites that are next to each other are offset by one vertical pixel, which was a common effect used to help with hardware limitations.

IIRC, the 2600 didn’t have a graphics processor. So, you had to “chase the ray” with CPU instructions, which made for some interesting limitations.

It has the TIA, which is as close to a picture processor (and also audio synthesizer) as you can get, but due to the 128 bytes of RAM, there was not enough RAM to form a framebuffer, hence the need to race the beam.

If you time travel and take out the ENIAC, you likely deprive the US of working nuclear weapons during WW2.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENIAC

ENIAC was designed by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert to calculate artillery firing tables for the United States Army’s Ballistic Research Laboratory (which later became a part of the Army Research Laboratory).[7][8] However, its first program was a study of the feasibility of the thermonuclear weapon.[9][10]

    … choose wisely.

Can you predict what would have happened, then?

    …are you sure?

Teddy Ruxpin just moves the mouth in response to sound. There’s no AI going on there (at least in the original ones).
