I don’t use VPNs in general, but I did give Mullvad a try for a month because my friend had been talking about it. It’s simple to use and offers pretty much everything you might want from a VPN. They also take privacy VERY seriously. You can literally pay them in cash, if you want literally no digital footprint from your Mullvad purchase. It’s pretty neat.

I’ll have to mention though, I’m not a big VPN expert, but my experience was positive. I’m sure you’ll get more technical answers from other people.

Proton VPN is free to use. It has limited options but should be enough for torrenting movies.

Notesnook should do it! It has a premium monthly subscription thing that gives you some extra functionality, but the free version does sync automatically between devices. I’ve been using it for a year now myself and have had no complaints.

While this seems very optimistic, maybe even utopic to me, I think you should do it anyway. If it stops even one party from doing something malicious, it’s better than not having the license at all. I don’t know if it’ll be worth your time in the end, but might you might as well try!
