no it’s not. all companies have to abide by EU law if they want to operate in the EU.

if that wasn’t the case, pretty much no website would ask consent to use cookies

edit: if you live in the eu, you might have run into a situation where a website is blocked in the EU because the website doesn’t want to comply with GDPR regulations

i used youtube api before, and now i tried invidious on two different instances and it spams a lot of errors in the subscription tab and when i try to watch a video i get this

i did check the issue reports and these seem like issues other people are experiencing too

yeah i was looking for a vpn inside the eu/efta and couldn’t find a better alternative so i went with proton and have been very satisfied so far

bought the 2 year package, no regrets. at least not yet. if they sponsor another far right influencer i might have to switch to something else after my subscription ends

for e-mail im gonna do something different tho, dont wanna have all my eggs in one basket. but it’s completely fine if some prefer that for the convenience :)
